چکیده

We have studied galaxy two-point angular correlations as a function of color using 4-m plate photometry in two independent fields. Each field consists of over 2900 galaxies with magnitudes 20 < BJ < 23.5 in an area of approximately 750 arcmin 2 . We find that the autocorrelation amplitude of the bluest 15% of galaxies is surprisingly strong, with a relative increase in clustering amplitude of a factor of 6 over that of the complete data set, while exhibiting a power law slope consistent with the canonical value of −0.8. These very blue galaxies are also found to be weakly correlated with galaxies of median color and marginally anti-correlated with the reddest subset. These correlation properties are incompatible with existing simple models of the galaxy distribution; they suggest that a significant fraction, more than 50%, of these very blue galaxies are a faint population which lie at nearby redshifts z < 0.3.

Herschel-ATLAS: the angular correlation function of submillimetre galaxies at high and low redshift

We present measurements of the angular correlation function of galaxies selected from the first field of the H-ATLAS survey. Careful removal of the background from galactic cirrus is essential, and currently dominates the uncertainty in our measurements. For our 250 μm-selected sample we detect no significant clustering, consistent with the expectation that the 250 μm-selected sources are mostl...

THE DEEP2 GALAXY REDSHIFT SURVEY: COLOR AND LUMINOSITY DEPENDENCE OF GALAXY CLUSTERING AT z 1

Wepresentmeasurements of the color and luminosity dependence of galaxy clustering at z 1 in theDEEP2Galaxy Redshift Survey. Using volume-limited subsamples in bins of both color and luminosity, we find the following: (1) The clustering dependence is much stronger with color than with luminosity and is as strong with color at z 1 as is found locally. We find no dependence of the clustering ampli...

Faint K-Selected Galaxy Correlations and Clustering Evolution

Angular and spatial correlations are measured for K-band–selected galaxies, 248 having redshifts, 54 with z > 1, in two patches of combined area ≃ 27 arcmin2. The angular correlation for K ≤ 21.5 mag is ω(θ) ≃ (θ/1.4 ± 0.19′′e±0.1)−0.8. From the redshift sample we find that the real-space correlation, calculated with q0 = 0.1, of MK ≤ −23.5 mag galaxies (k-corrected) is ξ(r) = (r/2.9e±0.12h−1 M...

Evolution and Color-dependence of the Galaxy Angular Correlation Function: 350,000 Galaxies in 5 Square Degrees

When applied to deep photometric catalogs, the two-point angular correlation function, ω(θ), is a sensitive probe of the evolution of galaxy clustering properties. Here we present measurements of ω(θ) as a function of IAB magnitude and (R − I) color to a depth of IAB = 24 on scales θ = 7 − 3, using a sample of ∼ 350, 000 galaxies covering 5 degrees in total over 5 separate fields. Using redshif...
